Killia, a demon who is out to get revenge on the Void Dark who tricked him into killing the woman he loved. He teams up with the Overlords and other demons who have had their worlds destroyed by Void Dark to form a rebel group known as The Lost. The main gameplay mechanic in Disgaea 5 is the ability to level up characters and gain skills, as opposed to the pre-determined characters used in previous Disgaea titles.
While Disgaea 4 did have a level-up system, it was limited to certain characters in the game. In Disgaea 5, however, every character can become more powerful, allowing players to fully customize their characters.
This is done by the newly implemented Magichange system, in which any character can transform into weapons, and vice versa.
In the Revenge Mode, most units’ moves have a “Revenge Gauge”. This gauge fills whenever the unit is damaged or killed by an enemy.
When it is full, the unit will enter Revenge Mode for a certain number of turns, depending on the unit. During Revenge Mode, the unit’s stats are all increased, reduce incoming damage by 25%, and they receive a special skill, depending on the unit.
